Before the Procedure

This abortion in the second trimester of pregnancy

  • Dyeing and Evolution (D & E) – This procedure is used if abortion is performed in the second trimester of pregnancy. In this process vacuum aspiration, distillation and contrite, and other surgical instruments (such as tweezers), using all these procedures, the tissues of the embryo and placenta are ejected from the uterus.

Abortion without surgery in the second trimester of pregnancy

  • Induction abortion is a process in which the contraction of the uterus is made with the help of medicines. By this, the uterus pushes the embryo as outwardly. There are two types of surgical abortion:

Vacuum aspiration can be done with local anaesthetic, sedation or general anaesthetic:

  1. Releases the pregnancy by gentle suction.
  2. Up to 14 weeks, this can be done with a local anaesthetic. The more immediate recovery period for this operation means you can leave the clinic unattended and drive sooner.
  3. Up to 15 weeks this can be done with sedation (calm and sleepy) or under general anaesthetic.

Dilatation and Evacuation – between 15 and 24 weeks of incubation.

  1. Carried out under general anaesthetic.
  2. The pregnancy is terminated using thin forceps through the channel of the womb (cervix).
